More than just a surgeon
A human being, Father, Author, Lifelong learner, Reader, Traveler…
About me,
Transplant Surgeon
I believed in “Go with the Flow” philosophy. I grabbed opportunities as it came. And here I am in the field of Abdominal Organ transplantation and practicing Transplant Surgeon. To be honest, I never thought of becoming one. I was sure about surgery but not transplant surgery. It is very rewarding as well as very frustrating clinical sub specialties. We see very transformative changes in our patients from end stage organ failure patients with almost lost hope to confident near normal fully functional human being leading normal life. On the other end, we as professionals struggle with bad outcomes in few of our patients no matter whatever we do. As all other science, transplantation science is also a continuously changing field, and we have come a long way. I am hopeful that we will do better in the future.
I am a transplant surgeon specialized in Liver, Kidney and Pancreas as well as Hepato-Pancreatic-Biliary Surgery.
In brief, Dr. I attended Government Medical College, Baroda and trained in General Surgery at Vadilal General Hospital, Ahmedabad. Then joined IKDRC-ITS (Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre- Institute of Transplantation Sciences) to purse training in solid organ transplantation.
I went to USA for further training in Transplantation at Montefiore Medical Centre (MMC), University Hospital of Albert Einstein College of Medicine, as an ASTS Fellow in Abdominal Organ transplantation. After successfully completing his fellowship at MMC, I joined prestigious Hume-Lee Centre for transplantation, VCUHS, Richmond, USA before returning to India.
Apart from this, I also hold a degree in Master of Public Health (MPH) from Illinois, USA and was visiting Scholar in Department of Liver transplantation at Asan Medical Centre, Seoul, South Korea. Currently I am working as Consultant Transplant and Hepato-Pancreatic-Biliary (HPB) Surgeon at Nanavati Max Super Specialty Hospital Mumbai, Maharashtra.
About me,
Other than transplant Surgery
Apart from being a transplant surgeon, I make sure I spend enough time with family. I am a father of one adorable daughter, Kiara who is now turning four.
